Dr. Prathap Kumar N is a distinguished interventional cardiologist and healthcare entrepreneur with over two decades of clinical and leadership experience. He currently serves as the Chairman and Managing Director of Meditrina Group of Hospitals, a rapidly expanding network of cardiac care centers across India and overseas.

A graduate of Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, Dr. Prathap completed his MD in Internal Medicine and DM in Cardiology, followed by a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology from the University of Turin, Italy. His clinical expertise lies in managing complex coronary interventions, and he has personally performed over 20,000 angioplasties, including a large volume of high-risk and complicated procedures.

Over the years, Dr. Prathap has made significant contributions to the development of interventional cardiology infrastructure in India. He played an instrumental role in establishing cardiac units in both public and private sectors—pioneering cath labs in underserved regions, such as Idukki, and implementing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models in ESIC and civil hospitals. He was also the first to establish cardiac intervention services in the Republic of Maldives.

Beyond clinical excellence, Dr. Prathap is known for his commitment to affordable heart care. His initiatives such as Hridaya Sparsham, in partnership with Mathrubhumi Grihalekshmi Vedi, offer life-saving primary angioplasty at significantly subsidized rates for economically challenged patients.

Dr. Prathap is a recipient of numerous accolades, including the Excellence Award by Vivekananda Samskarika Samithi, the Times of India Business Excellence Award, Best Interventional Cardiologist Award by Amritha Institute of Medical Sciences.
